Tips and tricks

Some tips and techniques to help you to use WaveSurgeon:

Drivers
Always ensure you have the latest drivers installed if you are experiencing problems with WaveSurgeon. Many problems with SCSI and sound cards are solved by doing this.

The right mouse button
A common question is æwhy donÆt you add an option to edit with the right mouse button?Æ. This is already in there û just select the æUse old right mouse menuÆ checkbox in the options.

The colour scheme
DonÆt like the colour scheme? This too is configurable û just select the second tab in the options box. All changes are saved when you quit the program.

The strip silence function

This is a very useful function, overlooked by many users (check the edit menu). Its purpose is to remove silence between samples, and place a splice point between them. This allows easy mapping of samples extracted from CDs, amongst other applications.

Quick tool selection
For quick selection of tools, simply press 1-9 on the keyboard. These are mapped in the order they appear in the toolbar.

Saving slice settings
To save and restore your slice settings, just click the save point and load point items in the file menu. Note that the sensitivity setting is not yet saved, so donÆt panic if the points donÆt appear immediately!

Moving the L +R locators
To change the L + R locators quickly, hold down Control + press the Left or Right Mouse button.
